SunRun, a home solar financing company, earlier this week announced that founders Edward Fenster and Lynn Jurich received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2010 Award in the Cleantech category in Northern California.

According to Ernst & Young LLP, the award recognizes “outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses”. Edward Fenster, CEO, and Lynn Jurich, President, were jointly selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a gala event at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel on June 12, 2010.

SunRun pioneered the power purchase agreement for home solar, allowing homeowners to go solar for as low as $0 upfront and pay monthly for their solar electricity. More than 4,000 homeowners have gone solar with SunRun, and the company grew 500% year-over-year in 2009 versus 2008.

“We are honored to be nominated and recognized for the effort of SunRun and our employees,” said Edward Fenster, CEO and co-founder. “There has never been a more important time to bring clean energy to our country and we will continue expanding to bring affordable home solar to homeowners across the country.”
