It has become part of our vocabulary, but the term ’sustainable development’ wasn’t coined that long ago. It was first used by Gro Harlem Brutland, a Norwegian doctor, politician and diplomat, in the seminal article Our Common Future, written in 1987. The text is a must-read for all those concerned with the environment and the future of the planet.
