Small speaker, Great sound June 9, 2008 Euphoria Essence (USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Pros - very loud for anything, great for everything, good sound quality. Overall - great little speaker for my iPod touch, laptop and etc
great little speaker May 20, 2008 L. Smith This is the cutest little speaker. The sound is pretty good for a speaker of this size. I was surprised about the sound quality. It is very good. I use it outside while gardening, washing the car, and barbecuing. I even use it while walking on the park trail. It can't compete with the sound of the cars passing by, but otherwise it is great and I don't have to use my headphones. The charge lasts about 4 hours.
Deserves a design award April 14, 2008 traderspin Creative solution to the design challenge of "least bad and most portable speaker". 1. Loud (only distorting when close to max volume). 2. Expandable speaker improves sound (just) beyond "tinny". 3. Travel friendly: tiny size, foldable plug, needs no additional battery or external charger (uses a standard mini-USB port). 4. Green/red light for power/charge indicator. As sound quality and portability reference points, I like Shure headphones, Logitech's mm50 iPod dock and Paradigm speakers. Any speaker this small is necessarily challenged, but the Duette is the next best thing to your hotel room having a dock/input for an MP3 player. Good for frequent travel.
Better than expected March 9, 2008 Robert (Michigan) Bought this to use with my ipod and wasn't sure if a small speaker would be any good. I was pleasantly surprised when I plugged it in. This thing is LOUD! It is very small so of course the sound quality isn't stellar, but it is excellent for a speaker this size. The unit is very small and comes with a usb cable to charge the internal battery. The extendable bass resonator doesn't do much, but it does help a little. Overall it is a great product for a very good price.
Great features, thin sound. March 8, 2008 T. Price (San Diego, CA) The good: Rechargeable, well-made unit, includes USB cable for recharging, very very small, easy to use. The bad: Resonating chamber doesn't pump up the bass very much, low-fi sound, physically awkward connection to other devices. If you want small, this thing is tiny. It has a large sound for such a small box, but at volume, it's still a thin, crappy sound - just a loud one. I love that it is rechargeable and it is small enough to fit in my pocket easily. The placement of the 3.5mm connector is somewhat awkward if the unit is being elevated because it is off to one side and not physically balanced over the connection. The resonator is surprisingly useful, but doesn't blow the doors off the place. I keep this unit around for when I'm traveling and want something to plug into my Kaossilator that doesn't require batteries. I also have a Aiptek Mistplus mini speaker I got for $20 at Circuit City and it has a much better sound and bass response. The only bummer is it requires two AAA batteries which also makes it [slightly] larger. If you're OK with low-fi, then this thing is 'da bomb!
