Product Description
The PowerPort Solar Charger and Battery has been designed to harness the sun's energy, shortening the process of transforming it into electricity by using photovoltaic cells (PVs). PVs convert sunlight into electricity that can be used immediately. The process is clean, fast, noiseless, and - thanks to Lenmar - easily portable. Here's how it works. Light from the sun hits the solar cells. exciting electrons within the cell. Some of them break free, and channeled through a conductive metal strip to create an electric current. This current can either be stored in a battery or used directly in the form of electricity. The stronger the sunlight and the more rays that hit the cell, the more electricity is generated. Lenmar's PowerPort Solar is a portable Lithium-ion battery that can be recharged from any USB port or directly from the Sun. Recharge your cell phone, PDA, media player and other portable devices or gadgets ANYWHERE. The PowerPort Solar is another performance product powered by Lenmar, makers of innovative chargers, batteries and accessories for digital cameras camcorders, laptops, cellular and cordless phones iPods, iPhones, PDAs, MP3 players and other portable electronic devices.

1 out of 5 stars Stay away from Lenmar Products   August 11, 2010
P. Scott (San Diego, CA USA)
This solar charger is the second Lenmar portable backup charger I've purchased and neither have worked. What's worse is that the company does not back their products and customer service gives me different info each time I call (they are a major mess). Left solar charger all day in full sunlight. Pluged into my Nexus One & in less than one minute charger died and did not change phone battery percent charge - (while phone off/not in use). Solar part is useless. Other unit wouldn't hold a charge. Sent it back for warranty (my cost) and consistent with what I was told from support. Got an e-mail saying they would not ship replacement unless I paid for shipping & handling of replacement charger to me (meaning I pay shipping both ways + handling for a defective product under warranty - total cost almost as much as the original cost of product). This company is really bad news.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Product, Defective Twice   June 4, 2010

I purchased this product as an accessory for my GPS and Blackberry while backpacking cross-country for multiple days. The information says it is compatible with the Blackberry, but it does not appear to be. I fully charged the LenMar and have had my Blackberry Storm sitting on the charger for the lsat four hours. The phone still will not turn on due to an empty battery.

I have had the device replaced once by Amazon and once by the manufacturer. Neither replacement worked. Do not buy this product.

5 out of 5 stars Storm Saver Power Supply   May 16, 2010

Bought this and charged it with sunlight. Then charged my Iphone from 40% to full charge in 20 minutes! This is going in my storm supply kit -- hurricane season is almost here!!!

1 out of 5 stars Big deception   April 23, 2010

Bought this recharger due to its solar cell capabilities. What they don't tell you upfront is that you have to expose the device for one hour under the sun to get 4-5 minutes of phone talk.
