1 out of 5 stars Right to the dump   August 30, 2008

It does virtually nothing. It hardly had any power and the fan rarely moved. If it did, it was of no use. My car was still hot as Hell and it leaves a 1/2 inch gap between the car and window, which made me nervous. The inventor must be laughing all the way to the bank though.

1 out of 5 stars With modification it can work   August 24, 2007

I bought one of these as an impulse buy. No where on the out side of the package does it say "does not work with tinted windows". However the instruction sheet warns that it will not work with tinted windows in 3 or 4 places.

When placed in the back window of my Xterra the fan did not turn at all in direct sunlight. If I moved it to the front window where the tint is lighter it turns but very, very slowly.

I removed the 4 tiny screws that hold it together and popped the solar cell out. I glued the power cell to the outside vent portion of the device and now it works reasonably well. I have not measured the exact cooling effect yet but I do car pool and my 2 coworkers agree that the car is cooler at the end of the day. Now I am even thinking of getting a second one to put on the opposite side of the car.

It comes with a rubber gasket that must be trimmed to fit your car. I must warn that I did cut my hand when trimming the gasket with a carpet knife. (be careful)

    1 out of 5 stars Garbage   July 16, 2007

I wish I'd read the reviews before wasting my money on this. The fan is so wimpy it won't even ripple the hairs on the back of your hand, and even then it only runs when in full, direct sunlight.

Great idea, though. Someone should make one that has some power, maybe with a larger, separate solar panel that you can lay on the dashboard or something?

It doesn't deserve even one star but there was nothing lower to choose. They should have a class action suit filed against them for false advertising.

1 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work- fan is way too small   May 21, 2007

This seemed like a neat idea. I bought one and tried it out. It's got a wimpy little fan- you can't even feel any air movement on your hand. I ran it all afternoon in the bright sunshine with the car closed up. I even stuck a digital thermometer in the car to see if I could measure a difference. No measureable difference. I think it would ned a much larger fan for this to work.
