3 out of 5 stars Not what I was looking for   August 2, 2008
I was looking for a solar fountain to replace my lily pad solar fountain. I loved my lily pad solar fountain, except it didn't last all that long (which is typical of solar fountains, I understand). I would have replaced it with another, but I couldn't justify paying so much for something I knew would last one, maybe two, seasons. The price on the Varuna Floating Solar Fountain was much more reasonable and it seemed to meet my requirements, a free floating fountain powered by the sun. Yes, this fountain floated and was powered by the sun, except it wasn't completely independent. The solar panels are connected to the fountain by wires, which would have destroyed the clean look I was going for. I didn't want to see wires dangling over the side of my fountain, and then a small panel that I would have to figure out how to mount. I did some research before hand on this fountain and no where was it obvious that the solar panels were separate. So I wanted to make sure that other customers were aware of this feature. It would probably have been fine if I had a pond or a low lying fountain, but not for the fountain I have (a very large copper pot). The return process to the independent company was fairly easy. I called them and was given an address for the return, and once they received it, I received an email and my money back. Overall, a painless experience for something that just didn't work for me. Hopefully it will work for you!

4 out of 5 stars great lil fountain   June 7, 2008

I bought this fountain to replace a lily pad version that was a gift last year. Come this spring the lily pad model crooked, and the replacement parts would cost more than this model, so I thought I would give it a try. I ordered it here from the sportsmen guide, it came quickly and it was been giving great service ever since. The fountain spray output is a bit higher than the lily pod model,it costs less, gets clogged less and is a joy to own. I would say very nifty product for the money. If it only works through the summer, it is a bargain!!!

4 out of 5 stars Really cool gadget   May 19, 2008

We ordered the solar fountain for my boyfriend's mom, who wanted a fountain in the backyard but didn't want to go to the trouble of getting electricity out there. This was a great solution. A few things to note:
1.) The fountain ONLY works when it is getting direct sunlight. Stand over it and your shadow will make it turn off.
2.) The fountain needs a big container, or else it will just spray all the water out. The fountain itself is about 12 inches across, so you need something significantly bigger than that for it to really work.
Overall, a great gift. Everyone loves it.

1 out of 5 stars Say what? Pay me for another one with your credit card # and I promise to send a good one and refund your money in a few weeks?   May 2, 2008

I received a defective solar fountain (no noise no water no nothing) with the extension tube and fountain heads missing. They wanted me to loan them $33 more dollars via my credit card number?? and wait weeks for my refund when I returned the fountain? Then they would send me a working fountain (promises promises). This fountain is made of plastic with a black plastic base and a clear rounded top. Mine didn't work. Wouldn't recommend. Picture looks more expensive and durable than in real life.
