4 out of 5 stars Cute but....   April 25, 2010

I really like this little fountain/pond. It's perfect in my garden for the birds, etc. I don't have a problem with it stopping when the sun isn't out.. Umm, that's what "solar powered" means, people. Solar power runs on the sun. So therefore when it's cloudy or dark out, it won't work. So why would you expect it to???? Anyways, I have/had a problem with the instructions and how the parts didn't fit all that well. Plus when my husband went to attach the tube into the base of the frog, the bottom of the frog broke. We were able to fix it so you can't tell, but sheesh! I should have just sent it back. What a hassle. But all in all, it's really cute.

its pretty which it had an electric alternative .Mine worked at 1st then just made noise. While i was trying to adjust the pump...the ceramic area that supports the pump crumbled and broke. I sent it back

4 out of 5 stars solar frog pond   August 3, 2009

I bought the solar ceramic frog water feature as a birthday present for my nephew. He took it home and plugged it in that evening in his kitchen and it worked under the kitchen light. He put it outside a few days later and likes it very much, but agrees with other reviewers that it definitely needs full sun to work. If a cloud passes over, it stops working. Too bad there's not some sort of solenoid to store the sun energy to keep it working in cloudy or darkened conditions. I suggested he try putting a spotlight on it at night to see if it would continue to work, but I don't think he's tried that yet.

4 out of 5 stars Perfect little fountain... as long as its sunny.   May 18, 2009

I was looking for a small fountain to put in my "relaxation garden" outside, but I didn't really want to have to run electricity out there. I saw this fountain and thought it would be the perfect solution.

The fountain arrived with no broken pieces and was easy to assemble. I set it up in my garden and it worked great... until the sun went behind a cloud. The description does not make it clear that this does not have any kind of reserve battery power; it is not like a solar powered light that stores the solar energy all day in a battery pack so that it can run at night. This fountain only works when the sun is directly shining on the solar panel. So this means that the fountain will not run if it is cloudy or after the sun sets, which is too bad because the evening is one my favorite times to be outside. I wish it at least had enough of a storage capacity to run for a few minutes without the sun, such as if the sun were to briefly go behind a cloud. Also, it says it includes an AC adapter for indoor use, but I did not receive one of those. I will be contacting the company about that.

It seems like it may be a little overpriced, but then again, there aren't many things like this, so maybe the company has a corner on the market.

All in all, this is a nice little fountain when the sun is shining, so I gave it 4 stars because of that. However, be prepared for its limitations.
