Had this for about a year now, works exactly as expected. When there's heavy sunlight it spews water, less sunlight will keeps the water flowing. Doesn't have a battery or a significant capacitor, just runs with the light available at that moment.
Best test of overall quality, birds love it. So much that I have to clean it out daily almost from all the bits of seeds and nuts they drop in there.

This is a great little fountain that my birds just love. It works well, it's light-weight, and it's easy to clean. I also like the black finish, because the fountain always looks nice, even when it's a little dirty. I've had fountains with lighter-colored finishes before, and I had to constantly scour them because they showed every little piece of dirt and grime. (And if you have birds coming to your fountain, it will always be dirty.) I've had other solar powered fountains, and this one works much better than any of the others I've owned. When it receives direct sunlight, which is about five hours a day in our yard, it runs beautifully. When the sun isn't directly hitting the solar panel, it runs a little less exuberantly, but it still sounds lovely. I would definitely recommend this product.

Where I live (Phoenix, AZ) this fountain doesn't work too well. First of all, due to high temperature here, the water dries out in two days. Also tap water here is very hard so calcium accumulates very fast on the solar panel and in the pump. I used diluted muriatic acid to clean the solar panel and it worked fine for now. I may try to hook up a drip line to the fountain and fill the water automatically. But still I only water the plants once every 4-5 days and the water in the fountain isn't going to last that long.

Item arrived quickly and although the box was a bit heavy to get into the house, I opened it and assembled it in 2 minutes. I easily moved it outside and filled it with water, and Viola! - Worked well right from the git-go. The kids like playing in it, and I let them, knowing that if anything goes wrong I can clean out the filter per the enclosed instructions. So far, so good! I like that it is resin but looks like aged stone. Very nice.

The fountain looks great in my rose garden. I enjoy to watch birds which sit on the bath of the fountain and try to catch the water splash.
