expensive for short life span & light output August 2, 2010 Jinger Michels (Tx) Solar LED landscape flood lights still have much to improve. They produce minimal light at best. But the REAL complaint about this set is that the solar charger died within 10 months of purchase.
The solar charger had a symbol on it indicating that it should not be discarded in the trash. If all of the companies that manufacture solar chargers produce units that fail within months, how can this be better for our environment considering this toxic, poorly manufactured "green" technology will end up in landfills across the country?
For my family this purchase represents a very expensive contribution to the green movement. We will replace this solar LED set with regular landscape lights & gladly pay the extra $1 per year electrical expense for lights we know will last for several years.
Solar lights May 20, 2010 J Dem (Bellevue, WA) I bought is to light up the number of my house in front of my yard and it does a GREAT job. The cord that comes with the lights could be longer, but it does a great job - especially in my overcast type weather - it has been quite good.
I wish each light had it's own solar cell, that way it would be more flexible. I am very pleased with the results so far.
They work! January 16, 2010 WSSiegelaar (Tucson area, AZ) I bought these what will be 2 years ago come April and they've amazed me - and everyone who sees them - since I first got them. They stay on all night long STILL! If memory serves, I did replace the batteries with higher mA ones but I don't consider that a fault because this unmerciful So. AZ. sun eats batteries! I'm only giving them 4 stars because, ya know, they could just use a little bit better wiring especially for what they're asking for them.
Now there was a rat, I'm guessing, gnawed thru one of the wires but I can easily fix that - and while it's apart, I can run it thru conduit. I love a challenge!
Anyway, these give off a bright path light and have stayed bright for the better part of 2 years and counting. I didn't pay near what they cost now, tho!
The best, for the price. November 5, 2009 Mr. Joe Budde (leesburg, fl) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered these, a set from Heartland America, and a set from Moonrays. The Malibus aren't real bright, but I intend to buy a couple more sets to fill in. The Mailibu's have long cords to each lamp that plug into the sensor. If a cord fails, you still have the other 2 lights. They have adapters to mount to rails, walls, or stick into the ground. The Moonrays are attached along a single, tiny cord. If the cord fails, and it quickly will, the whole system is trash. The lights are only about 3-5' apart. They can ONLY be stuck into the ground and cannot be mounted to a hard surface. They also, don't respond to customer "service". I can't honestly report on the Heartland America lights, as they were broken when I opened the box. I live in a rural area. Repacking and resending these items is more costly than what they are worth. This is the only recourse we have.
great lights October 29, 2009 Michael L. Hunzeker (Waterloo, Iowa) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have about 10 sets of these - very bright--- several have been out for three years in Iowa weather still working. Ordered two sets from amazon advertised as malibu solaire but received doitbest brand.
They look the same but failed within two months. absolutely wothless.
If they are the malibu very good, send back doitbest if they try to pass those off to you
