5 out of 5 stars back saver   September 20, 2008

We have had this hose since spring and use it in our barn. What a great hose- easy to use, light weight, great flow. A real back saver!

4 out of 5 stars Good, practical hose   September 10, 2008
J. Lee (Los Angeles, CA United States)
I've had this hose for just over 3 years and it's been great! It's got great form-factor, is light-weight, strong, and provides great water pressure when the sprayhead is attached. Note that you can't use your thumb to close the opening and make it spray further like you do with a traditional hose - the flat design is basically 3 plastic tubes molded together that provides the same volume as a larger single tube/hose.

I've never had a problem with water pressure or with the winding mechanism, until today, that is (read further). I admit that it's a little awkward to use if you intend on unreeling however much you need - I recommend just unwinding the whole thing and then using it that way and then winding it back again once you're done. I've only had one kink in it in the 3 years and after I cleared it, it was fine. The only real gripe I have is that the connectors are made out of plastic, which will eventually wear out. But then again, it significantly cuts down on weight.

One thing though, you really should not leave it unattended with the water on and the sprayer head attached. Today I thought I could leave it out like that when I took my dog to the vet - when I got back, there was a flood of water going down my front stairs! It was my fault though - I looked at the winder, which I left beside the hose and didn't bother to read the disclaimer before leaving... it warned not to a) leave uncoiled in the sun, and b) leave the water on with the sprayer attached - both of which I did.

So, my recommendation is that if you buy this, don't expect it to serve as a full-time hose that you intend on leaving on all the time. However, if you use it, you can do pretty much anything you can do with a regular hose - just make sure to clean up after yourself and wind it up when you're done.

2 out of 5 stars Not what I expected   June 26, 2008

I like the flat hose for it's lightness, but the reel is difficult to use. In order to use the hose you really need to unwind the whole thing and that is not how this was advertised. I am not even using the reel and the hose is now tangled and hanging on my old hose holder. I purchased a similar Magna flat hose several years ago that was terrific, but this one is far from it.

1 out of 5 stars great hose, cheap fittings   June 21, 2008

Great hose, lightweight and doesn't kink, but very cheap fittings. The first time I used it, I pulled a little too hard and it broke off at the faucet. Obviously a hose is worthless if you can't connect it to anything. I bought this hose once locally for $8, and it lasted about a year and a half before it started leaking, and I've been trying to find another one. This one felt like the same hose, but the fittings make it a zero.

3 out of 5 stars Works OK   December 25, 2007

Works as advertised, only problem is that, given the diameter, the flow is not that high. Does roll up real well.
