4 out of 5 stars Good, but not Great   February 26, 2010

I got these for my rv as well as my jeep that sits for weeks on end. The solar panels came packaged ok. No loose parts or missing parts. You receive both a cigarette lighter plug as well as alligator clips. Both adaptors attach easily to the solar panel. One of my complaints are the suction cups used to attach to the windshield. They don't suck! Meaning, they constantly fall of the windshield. You do get 4 suction cups in the packaging. I had to play with the cups to find the 2 that worked the "best".

Doing a little testing on my amp draw of my jeep. I found that is pulls .088 amps with no key and all accessories off. Sticking a panel to my windshield resulted in a reduction of my amp draw to .017 amps. This is better, but not quite what I was wanting. Remembering that all windshields come with a UV filter in them, I pulled the solar panel into the direct sunlight and found the vehicle was now charging .023 amps. This is more like it, however, reading the directions, these panels are not weather proof, meaning, waterproof.

Installing the second panel along with the first behind the windshield resulted in a charging of .017 amps. So, it seems I need to install both panels to keep my battery maintained while in "storage". Remember to check that your cigarette lighter is a constant power on (there is power with the key in the off position). If not you will need to install a aftermarket plug for the panels to work.

5 out of 5 stars Hope it works   February 24, 2010

These solar panels arrived in a timely fashion. Pckaged protectively. We've parked our cars for a year and plugged them in, one to the cigarette lighter, the other directly to the battery. Nicely thought out alternative hook-up provided. Hope it works. Stan

1 out of 5 stars Solar panels that dont work   February 9, 2010

First off let me say I have bought this same panel from Northern tools (in a package). I received my items, in a huge box with alot of rattling going on inside, when I opened the box I found two panels just thrown in the box with a couple pieces of packaging to somewhat protect anything inside. Remember, I bought this from amazon because I liked the first one I bought at Northern tools ( in a package). The panels didnt come with instructions, nor any packaging that had the extra connections or the suction mounts that should have came with the panels but didnt. I should have gone back to Northern tools, panels dont work like the one from Northern tools and one was cracked from crappy shipping by amazon employee that doesnt care about his job. Do NOT buy.

5 out of 5 stars Work amazingly   January 26, 2010

I originally bought 2 of these and they worked so good i bought 3 more! You just plug it in to either the car outlet, or just hook up to a battery, or battery clamps. I just plugged it in to my RV and my ATV and the battery just kept charged all winter long! Does not require a battery controller charger because of the low wattage. I would recommend this to anyone! I have never had my batteries last so long!

1 out of 5 stars Missing 2 cables (cig. and battery clamp cables)   January 7, 2010

I received my 2 pack of these and it only came with the following:

2 solar panels
1 cigarette plug in
1 battery clamp cable

I am missing the second set of cables (the cigarette plug cable and the battery clamp cable). I hate to send this package back for 2 little cables so I am trying to figure out how to contact Amazon regarding this.

These also came in a plan brown box with the above items in bubble wrap (no instructions and not in a retail box) not a huge deal but glad I am not planning on giving this as a gift etc - reminds of buying an OEM hard drive and it not coming with all the stuff.

Amazon - please help me out here.
