Great Value for the $ November 3, 2008 S. Jacobs (New Hampshire USA) I had low expectations for this type of lighting, but I was pleasently suprised after a couple of days of using them. The solar panel stores enough power with about 7 hours of sunlight to run the three lights for most of the night. They emit more than enough light to highlite just about anything you have in your yard. I used mine on a halloween display of pumkins and cornstalks. I don't think anyone will be dissapointed with these lights at Amazons very reasonable price. SAJ Northern New England.
Easy Install-Not very bright October 13, 2008 B. Drews (Fort Worth, TX) The landscape lights are: very easy to install-the hardest part of the installation process is hiding the wires. good through the night-at least they last through the night in September and October. I don't know how well they work in the middle of winter. inexpensive-compared to many other brands of solar lights, these are priced very well especially since you get three lights instead of just a single light. The only drawbacks to this set are: the bluish color - the color does not work well with normal hard-wired landscaping lights that are more of a yellowish color, but that is really not much to worry about. the brightness - since they are solar lights that last all night, there is a a good chance they are not very bright. They are not very bright, but they do add a soft glow to whatever you shine them on. I use two sets to break the darkness along the front of my house. One set is on one side of the driveway. One light shines on a tree near the road, the second light shines on the corner of the house, and the third light shines down the side of the house to light the path to a gate on that side. The other set is in the landscaping in the middle of the house. The first one shines on a tree in front of the house, the second one shines on the front door, and the third one shines on the house numbers beside the front door. I may add one more set to add a little more light to the other side of the house.
I LOVE THESE LIGHTS! October 11, 2008 River Rat a tat tat (Styx) I mounted these light above my front door with the screw base mounts. They light the area perfectly! Even on cloudy overcast days, the batteries charge. My only gripe was that the wires were WAYYY to long for my use. A snipper and eletrician tape took care of that! Will buy several more soon.
NOT GOOD !!! October 11, 2008 Corey Mondello (Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America) 10-10-08 I bought 2 packs, 3 in each. Granted it is October in Massachusetts, the North East, I expected a little more from this product. One light can very dimly light up a 2ft by 2ft hanging sun garden decoration, about 4 feet away. And I mean DIMLY. Same with my back gate, very dimly lit, but I can see the gate, but I wouldn't use just one light for either of gate of the decoration if you really want to see. I would suggest all three on any item; plant; tree; door; etc. if you actually want to see it. I would not use the "flood light" to face down, to make a walk way light up, this seems to do even less. I suggest, placing them every few feet, facing a fence that surrounds a yard, which will in turn light up the outer area surrounding the yard. But do not expect any actual "flood light" you can get from using your regular 40 watt light you can plug in to a timer or any outdoor outlet. I havent placed the 'Malibu Super Bright Solar Lighting' 4 pack pathway solar lights, but I am hoping that the 360 degree expression of light may work better for walk ways, in front of paths, or near garden sculptures. I am not a "plant" of any sort, and I rarely post a comment unless I really like an item, or really am not happy with an item. I am really not happy with this item. Final note, I live in the city, so I have a fairy small back yard garden area. It is about 20 feet by 20 feet, and in my calulation, it would take about 6 lights on three sides to actually make an impact like my low voltage garden lights I used in the past. I am trying to be more "green", but I wonder if I am just defeating my purpose by buying so much plastic solar lights, and wondering if using my old low voltage lights would be less detremental to the earth, or just using 4 or five 40 watt flood lights on timers, where only 1 or two are on at a time. Anyone know how I could find out this information? Thanks in advance.
Inconsistent Performers September 30, 2008 Waldo Emerson (San Francisco, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought 4 sets of these at an Amazon sale a little over a year ago. I found them to be highly variable. One set is terrific and continues to perform well after a year. Another initially worked well but now has only one remaining light working (not a bulb problem as I have switched terminals to no effect) but at least it is bright. The other two sets do not work at all. I tried replacing the batteries with high end Sony rechargeable AAs to no avail. I sent an email to Malibu about the problems I have had with these lights over 6 months ago but never received a reply.
