Product Description This bulb has a clear dimpled globe that smoothly disperses the light. With 36 LEDs inside the bulbs light has a bright cool white color yet consumes less than 3 watts of power. Made out of high strength plastic this bulb is built to last.

Bright for a 2.5 watt bulb November 18, 2009 Mojave Mike (Littlerock, CA United States) The first thing to keep in mind about any energy efficient lighting is they always exaggerate about the wattage of bulb you can replace, because they don't always compare based on the output, but the consumption instead. You should always make light bulb comparisons and judge replacements on how many lumens the bulb puts-out.
Color: This is a blue-white LED bulb, not quite as blue as some, but more blue than incandescent light.
Power: It's rated consumption is 2.5 watts, and claims to work well with dimmers (will test this later this week).
Compares well to: 7W candelabra microbright CFL
Brightness: about as bright as a 30W standard incandescent bulb, maybe better. This is the brightest 2.5W LED bulb I have seen, about as bright as a 7 watt "mirobright" CFL bulb. Since the microbrights put out more "colors" (a more complete spectrum), the LED light looks "thinner" than the microbright.
Coverage: This product has a clear diffuser with internal faceting, dispersing the light quite well. Not as well distributed as a 7 watt microbright but more appropriate for down-facing fixtures. It still works well in ceiling fixtures or outdoor fixtures for hallway or porch use.
Shape: This bulb is shaped like a mushroom, the "cap" about as large as a normal incandescent bulbs "bulb". It should fit any fixture that does _not_ require the light bulb "neck". This bulb is not quite as long as a standard 60W light bulb.
My usage: I currently have these bulbs in a hallway light I leave on when I'm out, the front and back porch lights, and an overhead reading light in the living room. I also have one mixed into an overhead fan fixture with a microbright and another 1W LED bulb. I've ordered more to use in a 4-light recessed system with a dimmer, will edit this review after I've used those for a month to see how they hold up.
A dim bulb! October 7, 2009 DF (East of the Mississippi) Not a replacement for a flourescent bulb! the advertised savings aren't really there with these bulbs. I bought some and was disappointed when they didn't give the same amount of light as a $.99 nite light. I cannot even read by their light, these bulbs are so dim! I love the idea of these things, and I'll have to see what products are out there which can outlast flourescent bulbs.
Doesn't last July 10, 2009 D. Kinser 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this bulb Oct. 5,2008, and it went out July 10, 2009, I don't believe this bulb is a good buy, I will not purchase anymore if this is the life of the bulb.
Very low output, similar to 20w incandescent, but works with X10 - FAILED AFTER 3months June 5, 2009 M. Cox (Austin TX USA) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I use several 40w incandescent bulbs around the house in multi-bulb fixtures - some pointing at art on the walls. This LED unit has about half, or less, light output compared to any of the 40w incandescents. And, as has already been mentioned the color is a harsh blue-white. It does dim with an X10 LM465 Lamp Module, but it stays on very, very dimly when the module is off (probably due to the LM465's sense current). In summary, this unit is only worth being used as a night light, or possibly in a gooseneck fixture 6 inches from your head pointing directly at whatever you may want to read. Also, it does get a bit warm when on - nowhere near as hot as a regular incandescent bulb, but it does not run totally cool.
UPDATE: This unit failed after 3 months of use.
Do Not Purchase May 13, 2009 Fake Benjamin Franklin (Philadelphia, PA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
These lights are extremely dim and the light is more of a focused beam than a broad coverage. Although that is not a huge let down. I purchased four for my room. While being satisfied at first, when turning the lights back on ten minutes after putting the lights in, one failed and has yet to come back on. I paid fifteen dollars for ten minutes of light. So be very careful when purchasing these LED lights; they are not quality products.
