Amazingly bright. Very efficient. Better than expected November 15, 2009 Steve S 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought a no name LED replacement bulb from Walmart for a couple of dollars, and I hooked the nightlight up to my kill-a-watt energy meter and I found out that the Walmart LED used MORE electricity than the normal incandescent nightlight bulb (around 2 watts), while at the same time not being as bright. I just got these bulbs today and I am absolutely blown away by how bright they are. They are much brighter than the standard incandescent bulb- there is no comparison. And the fact that they use less than a watt (about .8 watts according to reviews) means that we can leave the two bulbs on 24/7 and only use about $1.20 per YEAR in electricity (people who have these bulbs and choose to turn them off during the day- it is more a matter of your OCD than any actual monetary savings).
You may feel better about not "wasting" electricity during the day by turning them off, but in reality you are really using no electricity at all with a bulb that uses .8 watts, and the tradeoff in safety the one day you forget to turn the light back on at night, and you walk into something, or fall and hurt yourself is NOT worth it by any stretch of the imagination). I just installed one at the bottom of a two story staircase and it is so bright it lights up the hallway on the second floor. The other one is in the kitchen at entrance to the house and it will make it easier to both find my way around after entering the house before I find the switch to turn a main light on, and when I make my way down to the kitchen for a late night snack.
If you are a landlord, protecting yourself from liability is one of the major things you have to worry about. Placing lights like these throughout the property will ensure that you have afforded at least the minimum degree of lighting of your property to try to ensure that it is a safe environment. The fact that you can leave them on at all times without affecting your electric bill is a huge bonus, so it certainly can't hurt.
Bottom line- these light use almost no electricity at all, and they are way brighter than you think they should be.
Great Night Light If You Like Blue November 10, 2009 R. Himes (Sooner Country) I hate the term cool white. It should be light blue. Bulb puts out plenty of light for a night light. About equivalent to a 7 watt incandescent bulb. Side LEDs help distribute the light more evenly compared to a single LED bulb. Would give it five stars if it came in warm white.
Looks funny but works...mostly November 10, 2009 D. Hsu (Maryland USA) Slightly brighter than a generic 4W incandescent, but with a higher (bluer) color temperature. However, mine self-destructed after less than 10,000 hours, not even half of the manufacturer's rated lifespan of 20,000 hours much less the claimed 60,000. Looks like the internal circuitry quit and overheated, partially melting the plastic housing.
a bright idea October 28, 2009 Amazon Addict (Northern CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a well made item. Much better than the Feit electric LED night light bulbs. In fairness the Feit bulbs cost 1/2 as much.
The size is a little bigger than a standard 5W or 7W night light bulb so it may be a problem if you're replacing a night light bulb in a small fixture.
Great for enclosed applications and much brighter than the Feit LED or even a incandescent 7W bulb.
The light is a blue white color.
Nice when it works October 12, 2009 Roman 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The bulb is ideal for night lights, as the brightness is just about enough. However, the instructions should have come with a warning that these bulbs are not to be placed near any heat source, as they melt easily (could be a fire hazard as well).
