Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The XPower Powerpack Solar is the first portable power pack that incorporates solar power in a compact, portable power source. It's completely self-renewing, which means the detachable 5-watt solar panel has the ability to recharge the power pack's 10 amp-hour battery. The 5-watt solar panel captures stores and converts the sun's renewable energy, replenishes the XPower Powerpack Solar's battery, and extends the runtime of many devices by up to 25 percent.

4 out of 5 stars Good but not as good as promised   January 4, 2009

Had a power out and finally was able to use it; it powered my laptop for about 2 hours and then crapped out; this is from a full charge....

1 out of 5 stars Not really usable   October 21, 2008

Return Details: Lacking any real power output FOR A POWER supply, way toooo long solar charge time of 48 hours in direct sunlight(solar thing a farce)!! Useless since can't jumpstart a car, just uselesss period!! AC charge is 16 to 24 hours, car 12V charge is 3 hours before use from lighter socket. Any real runtime for smallest of appliances only.

5 out of 5 stars Works like a charm!   October 7, 2008

I use the solar powerpack primarily on camping trips for pumping up air mattresses and charging my cell phone. It works great! Much better than hauling your queen-sized Aero Bed through the campground after pumping it up using the outlet in the bathroom or the RV hookup sites! Although a little on the costly side, I believe this product is well worth it. My sister also bought one and she uses it frequently for her girl scout troop outings.

I purchased this product for my trailer and for when I'm far away from normal power sources (off the grid) and it has performed like a champion. This product is totally awesome, I feel that anyone that needs a dependable and flexable alternative power source should purchase this product.

4 out of 5 stars So Far So Good   July 27, 2008

I was skeptical, but after two camping trips and a power outage using the Xantrex Xpower Powerpack I am pleasantly surprised. It did not take as long to charge as other reviewers indicated, and had no problems using AC, Solar or DC(car) methods of recharging. I operated everything from inflatable bed pumps to portable DVD players and tent fans, and even re-charged two phones and a DVD player after a night of use. If you are a camper and are not expecting to be able to power your home appliances on road trips you might just be as satisfied as I am. I can not speak to how the battery lasts over time as I've only had it two months but as I said so far so good
