Five years from now.  How much cleaner will NYC be? A 50% reduction in emissions and I would think more for all the time taxis sit there idling. And $10,000 in savings on fuel per year is estimated.  <\/p>\n<p>Before reading this,  I never knew there were over 13,000 taxis in NYC.  And how come I can never find one after a Broadway show? And why does it rain every time I see a Broadway show?  But I digress.<\/p>\n<p>The time line for hybridizing the fleet means that the benefits will be more than anticipated.  I am sure that hybrid technology will improve.
