They create a biofuel, that is not biodiesel, that uses more of the plant material and also delivers two other important products: carbon ash and biogas. Carbon ash is an additive to concrete; US Sustainable Energy Corporation uses the biogas in their production. Their biofuel can be used in diesel engines without any engine modification and can even be used in regular gasoline engines as a 50/50 blend with gasoline.

But in what I think is a smart move, USSEC is not trying to enter the automotive fuel market. They are concentrating on power generation. This reduces distribution headaches, and eliminates all the complications in getting multiple car manufacturers to get the fuel approved. Both of these are costly and time consuming. Proving the fuel works in a controlled power generation environment is a smart first step which also reduces the burning of petroleum and coal products.

Most power generation facilities work the same way: A fuel heats water that becomes steam and drives a turbine that creates electricity. If this technology holds up and if these claims are valid, there are a lot of corn ethanol and biodiesel plants that may have to be retrofitted or not even built at all since the energy output is much higher than with either of these current alternative energy darlings.

Related Posts:

No Related Posts Found!
