It is based on the theory that long-term investors are good predictors of whether and when new energy technologies will become commonplace.<\/p>\n<p><!--adsense#300--><\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Our results suggest it will take a long time before renewable replacement fuels can be self-sustaining, at least from a market perspective,&#8221; said study author Debbie Niemeier, a UC Davis professor of civil and environmental engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Niemeier and co-author Nataliya Malyshkina\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s objective was to help policymakers \u00e2\u20ac\u0153set realistic targets for environmental sustainability and evaluate the progress made toward those goals.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/p>\n<p>They based their methodology on market capitalizations and dividends of publicly owned oil companies and alternative-energy companies as predictors because investors tend to be \u00e2\u20ac\u0153relative accurate\u00e2\u20ac\u009d with \u00e2\u20ac\u0153forecasts of future events\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers say the findings are a warning that current renewable-fuel targets are not ambitious enough to prevent across-the-board damage. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We need stronger policy impetus to push the development of these alternative replacement technologies along,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Niemeier.<\/p>\n<p><em>Via: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afp.com\">AFP<\/a><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--adsense--><\/p>\n<h3 class='related_post_title'>Related Posts:<\/h3><ul class='related_post'><li>No Related Posts Found!
