{"id":373,"date":"2007-10-30T11:10:13","date_gmt":"2007-10-30T11:10:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.energyrefuge.com\/blog\/brazil-and-the-environment\/"},"modified":"2017-09-05T17:54:54","modified_gmt":"2017-09-05T21:54:54","slug":"brazil-and-the-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.energyrefuge.com\/blog\/brazil-and-the-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"Brazil and the environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"left off\" src=\"http:\/\/www.energyrefuge.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/christ_in_brazil.jpg\">First of all, sorry for the irregularity of my blogs of late but I&#8217;m currently on vacation in Brazil. <\/p>\n<p>Still, I have been pleasantly surprised to see how much talk there is about the environment and related topics such as organic farming, which is not bad at all for a country with so many social problems to look after as well.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The other day they had on prime TV an article about <a href=\"http:\/\/www1.eere.energy.gov\/hydrogenandfuelcells\/news_detail.html?news_id=11374\">hydrogen cars<\/a>, which made it look like it may become a reality here any time in the near future &#8211; remember this is the country where ethanol cars have been used since the 1980s. <\/p>\n<p>Last night I saw an interview with a woman scientist who is developing what she calls &#8216;edible plastic&#8217;. She&#8217;s nearly there, the challenge now is to make it competitive for commercialization.<\/p>\n<p>I will resume my normal rhythm of work next week, meanwhile will tell you more from my station in the ecologically correct town of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guiafloripa.com.br\/\">Florin\u00c3\u00b3polis<\/a> in the south of Brazil, one of three island capitals in the country (the other two are Vit\u00c3\u00b3ria and S\u00c3\u00a3o Luis).<\/p>\n<p><!--adsense--><\/p>\n<h3 class='related_post_title'>Related Posts:<\/h3><ul class='related_post'><li>No Related Posts Found!
