First of all, sorry for the irregularity of my blogs of late but I’m currently on vacation in Brazil. <\/p>\n

Still, I have been pleasantly surprised to see how much talk there is about the environment and related topics such as organic farming, which is not bad at all for a country with so many social problems to look after as well.<\/p>\n

The other day they had on prime TV an article about hydrogen cars<\/a>, which made it look like it may become a reality here any time in the near future – remember this is the country where ethanol cars have been used since the 1980s. <\/p>\n

Last night I saw an interview with a woman scientist who is developing what she calls ‘edible plastic’. She’s nearly there, the challenge now is to make it competitive for commercialization.<\/p>\n

I will resume my normal rhythm of work next week, meanwhile will tell you more from my station in the ecologically correct town of Florin\u00c3\u00b3polis<\/a> in the south of Brazil, one of three island capitals in the country (the other two are Vit\u00c3\u00b3ria and S\u00c3\u00a3o Luis).<\/p>\n
