Air travel was supposed to take over trains. Computers were supposed to reduce the use of paper. The fact is that none of it ever happened. Movies are doing fine, trains are supposed to increase because they are more efficient than air traveling, and computers actually increased the use of paper because it is easier and cheaper to produce documents.

The same is happening with mail. E-mail was supposed to reduce the use of paper mail. Today, the volume of e-mail is larger than paper mail; however, the vast majority of those e-mails are spam. With the advent of the Internet, and what is call data mining, people’s personal information is available in public and private databases. Many of those databases are exclusive, pay-per-use places where marketing companies are betting their future.

Today, people should be careful where they sign their names. Every time you apply for a service, make sure you make a decision to allow the company offering the service to use your name for advertising…when you register your products for extended warranty… when you enroll in a free web service and you disclose your address.

Spam is not a problem happening to your email inbox only. The three Credit Bureaus sells everyone’s name on file to credit companies, based on certain marketing criteria that would yield the most customers- unless you explicitly asked to be excluded from the available names, and I will show you how to do this later on.

Every time you sign up for a free offer, such as free CDs, DVDs, Magazines, Books, Book Clubs, Video Clubs, etc. Chances are that your name is going to be sold.

Many retailers, requires you to be member of their customers clubs to qualify for their sales. Once you apply, your name is gong to be sold.

In short. 40% of the trash in landfills is paper materials. About 60% of all e-mail in the US is opened but not even read. It is calculated the average person gets over 40 pounds of junk mail. It takes almost 2 trees, 700 gallons of water, and 460 pounds of CO2 every year to produce the 40 pounds of junk mail.

I will give you a place where you can reduce substantially, the amount of garbage you receive in the mail.

Call 888 567 8688 or go to the web site https://www.optoutprescreen.com This is the web site that was created due to the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This is where you can opt out, from being sent firm offers from the 4 major credit bureaus.

Related Posts:

No Related Posts Found!
