Via Design Taxi<\/figcaption><\/figure>Pepsi recently announced that it will start bottling its fizzy drink entirely with \u00e2\u20ac\u0153plant-based, fully-renewable resources\u00e2\u20ac\u009d PET plastic bottles.
\n<\/p>\n

The 100% recyclable bottle will debut in 2012 and will be made from materials such as switch grass, pine park and corn husks. The plans are to expand the range of materials to include orange and potato peels, oat hulls and other agricultural byproducts.<\/p>\n

“PepsiCo is in a unique position, as one of the world’s largest food and beverage businesses, to ultimately source agricultural byproducts from our food business to manufacture a more environmentally preferable bottle for our beverages business \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a sustainable business model that we believe brings to life the essence of Performance with Purpose”, said Pepsi CEO Indra Nooyi.<\/p>\n

PepsiCo is making strides towards renewable energy as well. The Philippines branch of the company announced earlier this year that in five years it would be sourcing power demands for its manufacturing plants from co-generation facilities.
