But future solar panels have been compared to mats as a new technology promises to deliver amazing flexibility and efficiency within five years.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/business\/technology\/articles\/2011\/05\/23\/solar_energy__as_easily_as_unrolling_a_yoga_mat\/\" target=\"_blank\">a report on Boston.com<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microcontinuum.com\/solar.htm\" target=\"_blank\">MicroContinuum<\/a>, a company based in Cambridge, is developing in partnership with three universities what it calls \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcnantennas\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, which are designed to collect more <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energyrefuge.com\/solar-articles.htm\" target=\"_blank\">solar power<\/a> than existing solar cells.<\/p>\n<p>What the company envisages is a thin, flexible sheet that is cheap to produce. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Imagine a roll-up sheet, like a yoga mat, that you can toss over any structure, or roof tiles whose outermost layers are laced with nantennas\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, the website wrote.
