If you have been reading this blog, you know I am recently separated. And now that I living on my own, I have to buy housewares. I had some old cotton polyester sheets that were probably older than my marriage, and I wanted flannel instead. I went to the store and found some cotton\/bamboo sheets. <\/p>\n

I was hesitant. Bamboo is a wood, right? Was I going to get splinters while sleeping? The store had little samples of each fabric blend hanging from the shelves. I think so that people wouldn’t open up all the packages and stick their grubby hands in to cop a feel.<\/p>\n

It felt good. Like a soft gentle short haired flannel. I bought them.<\/p>\n

And then I saw that it said the following as part of the on the shelf marketing: “Bamboo uses less water than cotton.” Cool! I thought and then since I am so cheap, I had to look at all of the different products’ pricing.<\/p>\n

They were the same.<\/p>\n

“Hold on,” I thought, “I can save energy, spend the same amount of money and have some comfortable sheets?” Excellent.<\/p>\n

A little research and I found out that they also wash really well with cold water, saving me even more energy.<\/p>\n

Bamboo also uses less fertilizer and herbicides than cotton. And it grows quickly. I may start looking for bamboo clothes for myself. I know they have them; a Google search shows plenty.<\/p>\n
