First, before we get on to some exciting news in the world of solar power technology, I’d like to point you to this<\/a> blog on Treehugger, which is also about the solar panel toxic waste scandal in China that we blogged about on Energy Refuge<\/a> as well. The Treehugger blog gives us extra information on the Western clients of the Chinese company polluting in the name of green energy and some further reflection on the topic.<\/p>\n

OK, so now to Wales. A consortium led by Swansea University is developing a new material that is best described as photovoltaic paint that sounds very promising. “Solar-power paint could see the roofs and walls of warehouses and other buildings generate electricity from the sun… The scientists are developing a way to paint solar cells onto the steel sheets commonly used to clad large buildings. Steel sheets are painted rapidly in steel mills by passing them through rollers” wrote the New Scientist<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It sounds like a dream technology that could revolutionize this field, once some of the glitches are solved. We will keep our fingers crossed for the Welsh team.<\/p>\n
