To cut a long story short, the act protects those people with solar panels from shading made by trees in their neighbor&#8217;s property. The <em>International Herald Tribune<\/em> has an article describing two disputes, which makes for very interesting and amuzing read. Solar panels against trees? To settle the matter Joe Simitian, a Democratic state senator from Palo Alto, has introduced a bill to ensure that trees planted before solar panels are installed will be left alone. It seems only fair, really.
