Keynote presentations are the hottest tickets at IDF, especially the one made by President and CEO Paul S. Otellini, who\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s been with the company since 1974.<\/p>\n

Alternative energy<\/a> was mentioned during Otellini\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s presentation<\/a> (webcast<\/em>). The CEO said the company has created a chip that can power a computer processor on a solar cell the size of a postage stamp, wrote IBN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Otellini said the solar power CPU could draw sufficient power to run animation and other Windows applications from two small overhead reading lamps. Other parts of the computer were powered through a traditional power supply.<\/p>\n

The technology is an incipient experiment and there are no planned products based on it yet. The point of the presentation was to indicate the direction Intel is going, Otellini said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a clear statement on the direction and the capability of what we can do with our transistor technology\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, he added.<\/p>\n
