Photo: Intel<\/figcaption><\/figure>The Intel Developer Forum that kicked off yesterday in San Francisco and folds tomorrow is a major event for developers and IT companies to find out about the latest Intel innovations.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Keynote presentations are the hottest tickets at IDF, especially the one made by President and CEO Paul S. Otellini, who\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s been with the company since 1974.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.energyrefuge.com\" target=\"_blank\">Alternative energy<\/a> was mentioned during <a href=\"http:\/\/intelstudios.edgesuite.net\/idf\/2011\/sf\/keynote\/110913_pso\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Otellini\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s presentation<\/a> (<em>webcast<\/em>). The CEO said the company has created a chip that can power a computer processor on a solar cell the size of a postage stamp, <a href=\"http:\/\/ibnlive.in.com\/news\/intel-showcases-solarpowered-processor\/184416-11.html\" target=\"_blank\">wrote IBN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Otellini said the solar power CPU could draw sufficient power to run animation and other Windows applications from two small overhead reading lamps. Other parts of the computer were powered through a traditional power supply.<\/p>\n<p>The technology is an incipient experiment and there are no planned products based on it yet.
