Via SolarWorld<\/figcaption><\/figure>Solar power will be one of the stars at the Emmy Awards tomorrow (18).<\/p>\n

A canopy of SolarWorld high-performance solar panels will be gracing the red carpet at the 63rd Emmy, giving solar power some primetime TV visibility.<\/p>\n

The 50-kilowatt system will be seen during the official live pre-show “Countdown To the Emmys\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. It will air tomorrow between 7 and 9pm ET on Fox. 12 to 13 million viewers are expected to tune in.<\/p>\n

Besides solar, Fox had added other sustainable touches to the proceedings. The carpet is made from recycled materials, the ceremony will be lit with efficient lighting and the food will be organic and locally sourced.<\/p>\n

After the show, the panels will be donated to Habitat for Humanity<\/a>, a greater LA-based non-profit that works to improve housing conditions for low-income households. The solar power<\/a> panels will serve 10-20 homes.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Emmys spotlight the tastes, trends and technologies which viewers nationwide are tuning into in their lives,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Kevin Kilkelly, president of SolarWorld Americas. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153This year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s show will mark the historical moment when solar power made its debut in American popular culture.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
