These projects have a total capacity of 88 MW, equivalent to the electricity consumed by more than 13,000 homes\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, <a href=\"http:\/\/googleblog.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\">Google said on its blog<\/a>.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThe internet giant said this new investment brings its total alternative energy investments to more than $915 million. In 2011 it helped more than 10,000 homeowners to install solar PV panels on their rooftops.<\/p>\n<p>SunTap energy, a a new venture formed by KKR to invest in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energyrefuge.com\/solar-articles.htm\" target=\"_blank\">solar energy<\/a> projects in the U.S., will provide the remaining equity.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We believe investing in the renewable energy sector makes business sense and hope clean energy projects continue to attract new sources of capital to help the world move towards a more sustainable energy future\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, Google added.<\/p>\n<p>The energy produced by these projects is contracted for 20 years with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD).
