However, Venture Beat<\/a> reports that the company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s new facilities report<\/a> reveals its data center in Maiden, North Carolina will run on solar power<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The center was designed to be energy efficient, thanks to its white-cool roof, the use of outside air to cool the facility at night and power monitoring. Now it will receive a solar array to help the facility go partially off-grid. The solar panels will generate 42 million kWh of alternative energy<\/a> per year, Apple said. The building has also been LEED<\/a> Platinum certified.<\/p>\n
