Pythagoras Solar, which develops Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIV), has replaced two windows on the 56th floor with solar windows it has developed, which are capable of generating 120 watts of electricity.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThe solar cell is placed between two panes of glass and it also helps reduce heat, leading to energy savings.<\/p>\n<p>Pythagoras developed its technology with an award from General Electric. Previous experiments with the solar window by this company includes an installation on Organic Valley\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s headquarters in Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>Solar windows are an interesting and welcome development in solar power research as they have the potential to generate clean, alternative energy from existing space. As we have noted before, New Energy Technologies is working to develop a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energyrefuge.com\/blog\/glass-window-solar-power-closer-to-reality\/\" target=\"_blank\">see-thru technology called SolarWindow<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>In March the company announced it had developed in a joint effort with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory a virtually \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcinvisible\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 conductive wiring system to enable its SolarWindow to transport electricity.<\/p>\n<p>The system is a kind of very fine grid pattern that can be applied on New Energy\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s technology.
