Based on 2012 data collection, TSF also revised the 2011 total jobs number from 100,237 to 105,145.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThe Solar Foundation now has released <a href=\"http:\/\/thesolarfoundation.org\/sites\/thesolarfoundation.org\/files\/TSF%20Solar%20Jobs%20Census%202012%20Final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">an updated report <\/a>analyzing employment in the subsectors that make up the solar industry. Installation remained the largest subsector in terms of employment and added the most new jobs. Installers now employ 57,177 Americans, a 17.5 percent increase over the revised 2011 figure. Sales and distribution jobs experienced a 23.1 percent increase, now employing 16,005 Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Respondents highlighted the role of government to achieve such growth, with strong federal policies being such as tax credits being pivotal. Decreasing solar prices also played a key role, as well as state-wise pro-solar policies, and leasing schemes.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The National Solar Jobs Census 2012 illustrates that the solar industry, as a whole, is a dependable job creator and that solar employers are confident about growth in 2013,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Andrea Luecke, TSF Executive Director. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The growth by installers, especially at larger firms, signals that this subsector is heading toward a period of consolidation and maturation on par with other successful industries at this stage of the growth curve.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p><em>If you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re looking to make your Thanksgiving holiday more sustainable, forgo turkey (animal farming is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energyrefuge.com\/blog\/the-environmental-cost-of-meat\/\" target=\"_blank\">a major cause of emissions<\/a>) and have a vegan meal.
