Norway says, “No!”<\/a><\/p>\n

And I think I have to agree with them. <\/p>\n

No matter what, using a car to move you around does not make that much sense. If it is just you, driving to work, wouldn’t a bus with a bunch of other people be cleaner? <\/p>\n

If it is just you, shopping, couldn’t you do that near your home and walk or even online?<\/p>\n

But what about travel, the family vacation, the memories of being in a car from Ohio to Florida, one Holiday Inn after another. Four younger siblings. “Are we there yet?” and “Don’t make me stop this car!” echoing against the windows. <\/p>\n

I don’t think travel can ever be green. And that is a shame. I love travel. Driving across country or even just exploring neighboring countryside. But none of that is green. In a way, most of what people do is not green, just be definition. <\/p>\n

Right now, I am listening to the radio, having my dishwasher run, typing this on a computer, and there are two lights on. What is green about any of that?<\/p>\n

Yes, I could have more lights on, I could even have a TV on in another room. My heat could be going full blast. So I AM greener than I could be. But I am not green. <\/p>\n

What is the right balance between living and using resources right now and preserving them, conserving them, reserving them for the next generations?<\/p>\n
